Hello all! I've been having intermittent problems logging one specific character in. I've seen a few posts sprinkled over the past few years that describe the same issue. I haven't solved the problem, but I The Problem: RoF2 Client - Can log in multiple other characters, on different accounts, and some other characters on that same account, but one character specifically can't login, and cycles from char select to server select multiple times before eventually timing out or similar. If they are successful at logging in, the next attempt to zone results in another crash, and attempting to login again re-starts the cycle. Had previously been playing this character without issues. Problem Onset - Second time this has happened to this specific character. Both times that this has happened, I was at work, on work wifi, and had attempted to use a magus in guild lobby to travel to Nedaria's landing. What did NOT help: Attempting to log character on at home, on the same laptop - no difference. Using RoF2 "mini" client to login instead - no difference Manually logging in with mini client withOUT .bat file, MQ2 or EQBCS - no difference Moved character to nexus w/ char select - no difference Changed resolution in options manager to 800x600 before login attempt - no difference Deleting UI_Character_PEQTGC from game directory Deleting Character_PEGQTGC configuration file from game directory Deleting Character_PEQTGC.ini from E3 directory Clearing out inventory, receiving parcels (on different computer) Flushing dns cache. ?Idk what this is tbh, but I did the ipconfig /release, ipconfig /renew, ipconfig /flushdns. --It didn't fix anything though. Switched eqhost to eqemulator.net:5999 What DID work: Logging in same character on different computer, desktop @ home seemed to work fine. Not sure exactly what the problem is, as I've deleted all of the files I can find with the specific characters name in it. But still can't reliably log him in or zone him on my laptop... using either the main or mini client(s), so it shouldn't even be a problem with my client specifically? But also if it was just the specific network, then logging the character in from home on the same laptop should have worked?
try logging on just using eqgame.exe -patchme (this eliminates anything other than your Everquest installation). Manually type in username/password. Login server on eqhost should be Host=login.projecteq.net:5999. What happens exactly when you attempt a login this way? What's the name of the character? Assuming you have space, create a new folder on your laptop, copy over the Everquest files from your desktop to a new folder and try running eqgame.exe -patchme from the new folder on your laptop. What happens then?
